The Figueroa Brothers (specifically David and Greg Figueroa) are legendary figures in the hot sauce industry, widely recognized for transforming the way "gourmet" hot sauce is marketed and consumed in the United States. Based in New Orleans, they are the founders of Figueroa Brothers, Inc. Their identity is built on rebellion and intensity. Long before "super-hots" like the Carolina Reaper existed, they were pushing the boundaries of what was considered edible. They popularized the use of warnings on labels, claiming the sauce was "too hot to handle," which served as an irresistible challenge to chili-heads. These sauces almost always utilize pepper extract (oleoresin capsicum). This provides an immediate, searing heat that hits the tongue like a needle. It lacks the "slow build" of natural super-hots and focuses on a sharp, aggressive sting.
